Inspirational Wall, Primary 7’s, The Love Underground and much more…

Over the past 7 days we’ve had over 270 attendances at The Youth Complex and some exciting activities too!

Young people have been very hands on this week with the construction of our ‘Inspirational Wall’ where they will get the chance to write about their future aspirations.

Our inspirational wall. Just need the quotes on it to finish it off.

Our inspirational wall. Just need the quotes on it to finish it off.

The wall has taken several weeks to get to this stage. All that’s left to be done if for young people to write their dreams, hopes and aspirations in their box. It’s been great fun and we all look forward to seeing it once it’s finished.

This week saw the 2nd Primary 7 session of the 2014. As of August 2013 we lost our funding for the Link Me project which works with 4 local primary school sand the 2 local secondary schools to help integrate young people making the big step up form primary to secondary school. The success of the project had been evident but due to funding this year we won’t be able to run the full programme as it’s been done in previous years.

However, this hasn’t stopped us from providing a service for primary 7’s who will have the chance to come along on a Tuesday afternoon from 3-5:30pm and take part in activities and workshops and meet some new friends. We had 89 in the first week and 76 in the 2nd week and we look forward to seeing more new faces in the coming weeks. Any parents with any questions or anyone reading this who wants to come along please contact us on 0141 630 0000 and ask to speak to Kelly or Ryan.

On Friday night we took a group of young people to SWAYED by Youth Project’s Love Underground event in The Tunnel nightclub in Glasgow. The Valentine’s themed event was well attended and the young people enjoyed themselves. Keep you’re eyes peeled for new Subzero dates to be announced soon.

Over the next 7 Tuesday’s we’ll have the pleasure of our former member Rudy who will be teaching Dance on a Tuesday Night. Anyone interested should contact Ryan or Chris L.
